In case you like side-slanting films (I do!) and need something to do over this Super Bowl weekend, check out the latest education documentary Race to Nowhere.  You can watch the trailer below.

Since my local screenings do not start until next week, let me know if you see the film and your reaction to it by leaving your comments below.  Click here to find local screening information.

See you next week for Tech Tuesday!  It's going to be a great one.

  1. This looks like an amazing film! I just read "Teach like your Hair's on Fire" by Rafe Esquith, it is a great book, it takes you inside an amazing classroom.

  2. Carrie - Esquith's book sounds fantastic. I have an older book of his called There are No Shortcuts. He is such a model teacher.

    Thanks for sharing,

  3. I saw this movie last week. It was fabulous and gave me food for thought. I was amazed at the stress and pressure our kids are feeling today. We need to let them play. We need to not overschedule them. We need to let them be kids. What college a person goes to (while some doors might open because they went to Harvard) doesn't matter. What defines success is a person's drive for excellence, joy of life, and solid work ethic. Definitely worth taking a look at this movie! Praise the process not the product.

  4. Shannon - I have yet to see the Race to Nowhere. Your thoughtful review, though, makes me want to see it more. I resonant with your last line, "Praise the process not the product."

  5. This film seems very compelling. While I have not had the chance to see it, I am curious to know what you bloggers out there thought of it. Professor Lara, I would have never noticed that this film was created if it hadn't been for this blog. Perhaps you could have elaborated on the blog posting to mention your thoughts about the trailer? Obviously you hadn't seen it yet, and maybe you just posted it to see how people would respond, but I also want to know why you posted it and what you thought when you saw this trailer.

  6. Jenna - I didn't want to share my opinion about the trailer because I didn't see the entire documentary yet. Maybe, though, I could link to a summary or ask a friend to guest post for us.

    I'm thinking....
